If you have a geared bike that you want to run as a singlespeed the Rapidé Tension-R Chain Tensioner is just what you need! It will take up the slack in the chain using a sprung arm and jockey wheel and takes the place of the rear derailleur.
The jockey wheel is adjustable side-to-side for chain position making it easy to get the correct chain line and the compact internal tension spring makes for stiffer, flex-free chain alignment and control.

I purchased my first Tension-R about 6 months ago for my first Single Speed build.Have done over a 1000km’s on the bike and I’m very impressed with the product. It is made of high quality material and extremely durable, has not failed in its task through all the trials an tribulations I’ve put it through. Was so impressed with it that I recently purchased a second Tension-R for another build.Would recommend it to anybody who wants to do a Single Speed build with a frame with vertical drop outs.

Does exactly what I wanted. Will likely last much longer than my previous tension device that used a roller.

Great device for turning a standard rig into a single speed.
Runs smoothly and quieter than other non-sprung brands that I have tried previously. Also makes it very easy to remove the wheel in event of a puncture.
Good value for money too.
Only gripe is that the horizontal pulley adjuster rod sticks out quite a bit when the cog is fitted closer to the outside of the freebody. I have trimmed mine a little shorter to make it look more sleek.
